Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") govern your use of the Puhekieli app ("the app"). By using the app, and in particular by enabling the optional "Make translations faster" setting, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app or that setting.

1. The app

Puhekieli is a translation tool. It translates text between English (or another source language you choose) and Finnish, and provides related learning and study features. The app is provided for your personal use. Puhekieli is published by Native Tongue LLC, and in these Terms "we" and "us" mean Native Tongue LLC.

2. The optional shared library and your contributions

The "Make translations faster" setting is off by default. When you turn it on, the app contributes your translations to a shared library and downloads that library, as described in the Privacy Policy. Enabling the setting means you agree to the Privacy Policy and to these Terms, including the Acceptable Use rules below.

You grant us permission to use the contributed content (the translated text and the one-way hash of your input) to operate, provide, and improve the shared translation library.

Separately, the "Send flagged translations for review" setting is also off by default. When you turn it on and thumbs-down a translation, the app sends that phrase and its translation so a professional translator can review and improve it, as described in the Privacy Policy. You grant us permission to use this flagged content to review and improve translation quality. The Acceptable Use rules below apply to this content as well.

3. Acceptable use

When you use the app, and especially when you contribute to the shared library, you agree NOT to submit, enter, or transmit any content that:

Is objectionable, hateful, harassing, abusive, obscene, or otherwise offensive.
Is unlawful, infringes someone else's rights, or promotes illegal activity.
Is personal or private information about you or anyone else, including names used as private data, emails, phone numbers, account numbers, addresses, or other identifying details.
Contains spam, malware, or attempts to disrupt, probe, or abuse the service.

We do not tolerate objectionable content or abusive behavior. Content is filtered on your device and on the server before it can become public, and a phrase becomes public only after at least three distinct installs submit it.

4. Reporting, removal, and enforcement

Any translation served from the shared library can be reported from within the app. Content that is reported or that we detect as violating these Terms may be removed from the shared library, and installs that repeatedly or seriously violate these Terms may be blocked from contributing. We may take these actions at our discretion and without notice in order to keep the service safe.

5. No warranty

The app and the shared library are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind. Translations are generated automatically and may be inaccurate, incomplete, or unsuitable for a given purpose. Do not rely on the app for decisions that require a professional or certified translation.

6. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app or the shared library.

7. Changes

We may update these Terms. If we do, we will update the date at the top and post the new version at this address. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
